On May 31, 2018, flowers were laid at the Memorial "1932-1933 Zhyldyrda Asharshylyq Qurbandaryna Taghzym" (the Memorial to the Victims of the Famine of 1930–1933). The event was timed to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.

Secretary of the Nur Otan Party Farkhad Kuanganov, Mayor of Astana Asset Issekeshev, representatives of creative intelligentsia, members of the Astana Maslikhat, heads of government agencies, the city community members and youth took part in the flower laying ceremony.
 

The Memorial to the victims of the Mass Famine was unveiled in Astana on May 31, 2012, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions and the Famine. The Memorial covering an area of 0.175 hectares is located on a 21x21m rectangular platform. The central sculpture of the "mother-woman" is 4.4 meters high, the other sculptures are 1.2 to 2.5 meters high. The height of the "Wall of Sorrow" is 5 meters, while the total length is 23 meters.
