The art of kendo conquers Astana

The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Kazakhstan held a ceremony of presenting the kendo equipment to the Kendo Club in Kazakhstan
Japanese champion Nobukazu Onishi demonstrated the art of Iaidō within the framework of the event.
In 2016, four kendo masters of the Japanese Kendo Federation paid a visit to Kazakhstan as part of the Japan Foundation’s project. During the visit, local masters revealed it is hard to find high quality kendo equipment in Kazakhstan. Given that, the Japanese Kendo Federation made a decision to kindly donate the necessary equipment to Kazakhstan’s kendo club to make this sport popular in the country.
